In the teaser trailer for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's forthcoming Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan , black and white photographs flash—there are shots of Meghan pregnant, selfies of the royal couple, a never-before-seen shot from their wedding , and, notably, one photograph that seems to have been taken inside Buckingham Palace. The image shows Harry and Meghan walking out of the Palace's garden entrance:
The Telegraph reports that "the presence of the photographer was the subject of a written palace complaint at the time, as aides noted that the couple had not asked permission to shoot inside the Queen’s home." They added, "The Sussexes are not thought to have been made personally aware of the warning." However, the photographer was not asked to leave.
The photograph appears to be taken during March 2020, when the couple returned to the UK before stepping down from life as working royals. In fact, Meghan was pictured in the outfit on March 5, 20202 leaving the Goring Hotel in London. She's wearing an Alex Eagle camel wrap coat , and carrying a Loewe black leather bag.
While on their goodbye tour of London, photographer Chris Allerton documented their engagements. It's likely Allerton also took this shot. Whether or not any other images and video from inside Buckingham Palace will be in Harry & Meghan remains to be seen.
Permission has to be granted to film inside the Palace. A source in the Telegraph explains "There is very strict protocol about bringing a film crew or photographer. Usually a memo would be sent to the Queen to get approval."
According to Netflix, the six episode docuseries, directed by Liz Garbus, "explores the clandestine days of their early courtship and the challenges that led to them feeling forced to step back from their full-time roles in the institution. With commentary from friends and family, most of whom have never spoken publicly before about what they witnessed, and historians who discuss the state of the British Commonwealth today and the royal family’s relationship with the press, the series does more than illuminate one couple’s love story, it paints a picture of our world and how we treat each other."
The first three episodes premiere December 8, with the final three episodes dropping one week later.
